Hi Adriabold, The best way to get calcium is from green leafy vegetables, and yes you need Vitamin D to absorb calcium. I don't recommend extra calcium unless a woman is pregnant or breast-feeding. Make sure you doctor checks your 25-OH Vitamin D level to make sure you are getting enough sun exposure or supplementing with enough Vitamin D.
